Hi Stephen,
I absolutely agree - education and learning are not just about acquiring skills that lead to mastery. They're also about expanding one's mind.
For the latter, it can be helpful to hear how other people “did it,” what obstacles they faced and how they tackled them. I got a hit of encouragement when I took Jon-Kabat Zinn's mindfulness class and saw myself reflected for the first time in a field I thought was off-limits to me.
Yet, from an emerging EdTech unicorn, I expect them to at least point towards the science of learning. A masterclass on the meta-skill of "learning how to learn." Or a disclaimer that Mastery requires practice and consistency. I find their disclaimer 'MasterClass delivers a world-class online learning experience." in that sense misleading.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! All the best on your learning journey:)
