great thought! In my opinion there's a difference between knowledge work (getting paid for thinking mostly online) and more practical work (also requires thinking but in parts offline). The more diversity of tasks (e.g. talking to patients, filing sheets, working with a computer) the less tiring those tasks can be (as opposed to sitting 8 hours in front of a computer). Yet, workers like nurses and doctors have a large emotional dimension added which can also be really demanding. So I hope one day nobody is required to work more than 20-30 hours a week (unless they really want to). :)
